Two Screen Solution

The emergence of 3D movies on Blu-ray presents more of a challenge than just a new Blu-ray player, you'll also need a new display. If you are using a projector, you also have to consider the screen you are using. For optimum performance your current screen may or may not be adequate. In fact, a screen optimized for 3D doesn't always provide the best 2D image. However, Stewart Filmscreems has come up with the Daily Dual, providing a solution for optimum 2D and 3D viewing.

In fact, a screen optimized for 3D doesn't always provide the best 2D image. However, Stewart Filmscreems has come up with the Daily Dual, providing a solution for optimum 2D and 3D viewing.

The Daily Dual allows existing rooms to be converted to dual 2D/3D screen functionality by using two separate screens. One of the screens is fixed, probably the one you use most often for 2D content, and a second motorized screen that drops down over the other screen for 3D viewing.

The type of 3D projector you use determines the screen you should use as well. For instance, projectors that require active shutter glasses (which is a better 3D solution that polarizing glasses) will perform best with a highly reflective silver surface. The reflective surface bounces more light back to the viewer and this is necessary because the LCD glasses filter out a lot of light, which is why 3D movies can look too dark. The proper pairing of screen and projector has always been important but it may be more so with 3D.

The Daily Dual can be used for other two-screen solutions as well, such as one screen for high ambient light conditions that would require the Firehawk G3 and another for optimum viewing conditions in a darkened room like the reference StudioTek 100 G3.

With the Daily Dual it's possible to switch between screens at the press of a button and it's completely compatible with any of Stewart's screen materials. There is no need to choose the lesser of two evils in your home theater because the Daily Dual allows separate projector/screen configurations for optimum results in two completely different viewing scenarios.
