Yamaha Statement on HDMI 2.1 Incompatibility Issues

A Yamaha representative provided the following statement on November 19, 2020:

From the time Yamaha first announced the RX-V6A AV receiver, we have stated that we will support emerging HDMI 2.1 capabilities (such as 4K 120Hz pass-through) via future updates. We will address the reported HDMI 2.1 issue via these planned future updates in order to provide customers with the best solution available.

After all future updates, three of the seven HDMI inputs will support 4K 60Hz, 4K 120AB, 8K 60B, Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and gaming features such as ALLM (auto low latency mode), VRR (variable refresh rates), QFT (quick frame transport), and QMS (quick media switching). The other four HDMI inputs will support 4K 60Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10, and ALLM. This approach to future updates applies to any new receivers we have released, the RX-V6 as well as the RX-V4, RX-A2, and TSR-700.

Editor’s Note: “A” and “B” designate support for uncompressed and compressed modes, respectively. “AB” denotes support for both modes.
