Severtson Ships Acoustically-Transparent 4K Screen

Severtson Screens has announced that the new version of its acoustically transparent SAT-4K projection screen is now available.

Previewed earlier this year, the screen has a finer weave and whiter material than its predecessor for an enhanced home theater experience. The new SAT-4K is priced the same as the previous screen and its acoustic abilities are not hampered by the finer weave, according to the company.

The acoustically-woven screen is described as seamless, flame and mildew resistant, and available in any size with the option of being fitted in Severtson’s new 4K thin/zero bezel fixed frame. As an added benefit, the new material lays flat and is more resistant to wrinkles than previous materials. Specs include a gain of 1.18 and viewing angle of 160 degrees.

A key benefit of acoustic transparency is that the entire front sound stage can be placed directly behind the screen at the same horizontal axis, allowing dialogue and special effects to be in sync with images on the screen, according to the company.

Available in Severtson’s Impression, Deluxe, Deluxe Curved, and Thin Bezel configurations, the SAT-4K screen is said to meet or exceed industry standards for optimum video and acoustic performance, providing “reference quality reproduction of the digital image combined with true fidelity of the original soundtrack.” Custom and standard sizes are available with an LED backlit add-on option.
