Polk Launches Entry-Level Home Theater Speakers

Polk Audio has introduced the T Series, a mix and match collection of entry-level home theater speakers modeled after the Monitor Series that launched the company 43 years ago.

The series comprises the T50 floorstanding tower speaker ($130 each), the T30 center channel speaker ($130), and the T15 bookshelf speaker ($100/pair), making it possible to assemble a 5.1 setup for just under $500 (less subwoofer).

A few highlights: The flagship T50 mates a 1-inch silk dome tweeter with two 6.5-inch bi-laminate composite drivers, and a pair of 6.5-inch passive radiators. The tweeter is mounted in Polk's custom wave guide, which is said to help control dispersion and increase power handling.

T30 center speaker mates the same 1-inch silk dome tweeter with a pair of 5.25-inch woofers in a rear-ported enclosure, while T15 bookshelf model combines a 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter with a 5.25-inch woofer in a ported enclosure with a keyhole slot for wall mounting. All models sport a “furniture-grade black oak finish.”

Michael Greco, global brand director, said the goal was to produce an entry level line “with exceptional sound that far exceeds its price.”

T Series speakers are available at Best Buy, Amazon, and Crutchfield. For more information visit PolkAudio.com .
