Onkyo Adds Flagship AV Receiver, AV Preamp

Onkyo USA announced plans to add to two top-of-the-line AV receivers and a new flagship AV preamp/controller to its RZ Series in September.

The THX Select2 Plus-certified 11.2-channel TX-RZ3100 ($3,199) and 9.2-channel TX-RZ1100 ($2,199) AV receivers and THX Ultra2 Plus-certified 11.2-channel PR-RZ5100 AV preamp/controller ($2,399) are equipped to handle state-of-the-art sound with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X processing and state-of-the-art video sources with support for HDCP 2.2, 4K/high dynamic range, BT.2020 color, 4:4:4 color space, and 4K/60 Hz. Power output at 8 ohms for the RZ3100 and RZ1100 is 11x140 watts.

All are designed to simplify custom integration with features such as RS-232 connectivity, IR and 12v triggers, PC setup, Zone 2 pre outs with an independent HDMI output, a Zone 3 pre out, and an 11.2-channel RCA/preamp output; the PR-RZ5100 has balanced XLR connectors. The TX-RZ1100 and TXRZ3100 also provide Zone 2 and 3 powered outputs for driving speakers in other rooms.

All models support Google Cast and AirPlay, wireless streaming via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and provide apps for Spotify, Tidal, TuneIn, and Pandora music streaming services. All app-based audio can be cast to the main room and beyond using Onkyo’s remote application.

Onkyo said the TX-RZ3100 and TX-RZ1100 feature a new high-current digital amplification system that pairs with AccuEQ and AccuReflex room calibration technologies to “optimally balance and phase-align sound in any listening space.”

All models are backed by a three-year warranty and priority customer support.

I guess some people still think that THX is just a post processing DSP and nothing else.
