Now You Can Watch Telly on Apple TV, Mate

Acorn TV, a streaming service specializing in popular TV content from Britain and around the globe, is now available on Apple TV and in a new iOS app for the iPhone and iPad.

Since it debuted in 2011, Acorn TV has built a lineup of shows that includes a new BBC adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime; the popular British “dramedy” Doc Martin, starring Martin Clunes; the British thriller Black Work, from Matt Charman, the writer of Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies; Canadian police drama 19-2; Australia’s Downton Abbey-esque period drama A Place to Call Home; Irish Western Dominion Creek; and British supernatural miniseries Midwinter of the Spirit.

Acorn TV became one of the first niche streaming sites to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2015 when Agatha Christie’s Curtain, Poirot’s Last Case earned a nod for outstanding television movie.

The service, which is owned by RLJ Entertainment and holds exclusive North American distribution rights to many top British programs, enables U.S. viewers to stream many of their favorite shows as well as discover new and classic programs previously unavailable here. Acorn adds new programs every week and features a deep library of mysteries, dramas, documentaries, and comedies with no set end dates.

Viewers can subscribe directly to Acorn TV by downloading the app on the fourth-generation Apple TV, or through the updated iOS app, which delivers in-app purchase and improved support for streaming to older Apple TVs via Airplay.

A subscription costs $4.99 per month, with a 30-day free trial when you first subscribe. For more information, visit acornonline.com.
