Netflix Might Start Streming HBO Content for a Price

According to Hacking Netflix, users (not me, sadly) are getting e-mail surveys asking if they would be willing to pay an extra $10 a month to watch a selection of movies and original shows from HBO. It goes on to list most of the network's most popular shows, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Flight of the Conchords, Entourage, Rome and Sex and the City as possible options. Unfortunately, the questionnaire is vague, leaving us to wonder what the specifics would look like. Would we get new shows as they're aired or just the stuff that's already out on DVD? Would each new title remain in the library indefinitely or would they go in and out of rotation like with the TV network? That would all be useful information to have before deciding the fate of this hypothetical 10-spot.

If this does come to fruition, it will be interesting to see how and if the cable companies respond. Many people have been asking for a-la-carte channel-picking forever and if Netflix starts offering it, even more people may start losing the cable box all together, especially if Netflix continues to improve upon their HD capabilities.
