LG Partners with Meridian to Up its Audio Game

LG and Meridian Audio yesterday announced a global partnership to collaborate on the technical design of soundbars, wireless speakers, and other LG audio products.

The partnership is described as an effort to “raise the bar on acoustic performance, using natural and authentic sound derived from rigorous research and development.”

Founded in 1977, Meridian is a pioneer and leader in high-performance audio with special expertise in digital signal processing (DSP) and psychoacoustics. Credits include development of the first digital active loudspeaker, the first in-car 3D surround sound system, and, more recently, the Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) music format that enables high-resolution master recordings to be packaged into a standard resolution file size that can be easily downloaded or streamed.

LG said a key goal of the partnership is to deliver an outstanding entertainment experience.

“We are…confident that our expertise and shared values will see us bring a great number of innovations to the market together, both now and in the future,” said Meridian CEO John Buchanan.
