LG’s Unveils “Ultimate Gaming Monitor”

LG’s newest 34-inch HD gaming monitor boasts an ultra-wide curved screen and other features to provide an immersive experience that pulls gamers into the action.

In addition to its 21:9 screen, the 34UC89 monitor ($1,000) is equipped with a 144 Hz refresh rate and Nvidia G-Sync display technology, which dynamically matches the 144 Hz (overclockable to 166 Hz) refresh rate of the display to the frame rate output of the GPU to deliver smooth images.

The monitor is said to deliver “over 99 percent of the sRGB color space, even at wide viewing angles, and shorter input lag.” Three display modes—Black Stabilizer, Dynamic Action Sync, and Crosshair—are designed to help users get the most out of tactical gameplay.

When playing FPS or RTS games, the Black Stabilizer mode automatically senses the darkest areas in a scene and makes them brighter to enhance visibility. The Dynamic Action Sync mode allows users to “instantly defeat their opponents” by minimizing input lag, while the Crosshair mode places a target point in the center of the screen to enhance accuracy in FPS games.

"LG took every consideration in designing this display for one purpose and one purpose only, and that was to create the ultimate gaming monitor," said David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing, LG Electronics USA. "Whether you're a professional or a casual gamer, this monitor has the features necessary to give you an edge over the competition."
