LEGO hits "Toy Story," "Prince of Persia"

LEGO's no stranger to marketing, but this one managed to surprise me. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is coming to LEGO later this year. Based on the upcoming movie (which is based on the 2003 video game), the LEGO series will include various Persian-themed scenes from the movie.

The company is planning 5 sets for the movie, ranging from the inexpensive "Desert Attack" and "Ostrich Race" (yes, Ostrich Race) kids at $11 and $20 to the "Battle of Alamut" play set for $80. The Battle for Alamut set is an impressive Persian palace with a great fortified gate, and consists of 821 pieces including 7 minifigures. It's Gyllenhaalicious!

In other LEGO news, the impending 3D Pixar blockbuster Toy Story 3 will feature LEGO for the first time. Among the numerous other toys in the film will be a LEGO brick train set. Naturally, LEGO is producing that train set alongside its other Toy Story sets.
