Klipsch Adds On-Wall Speakers to Reference Series

Klipsch today introduced a new line of space-efficient on-wall speakers designed to complement wall-mounted TVs.

Ideal for rooms with limited floor space, the new Reference Premiere Designer On-Wall series comprises four models that bring the Cerametallic woofers and Tractrix horn-loaded tweeters used in Klipsch’s full-size Reference Premiere speakers to slim, wall-hugging cabinets with wrap-around magnetic grilles. All of the models use different combinations of 1-inch titanium tweeters and 3.5-inch woofers.

The lineup includes small (RP-140D), medium (RP-240D), and large (RP-640D) column-style speakers, which can be used as left-, center-, right-, or surround-channel speakers, and the RP-440D SB soundbar ($699), a three-channel passive system with a woofer-tweeter-woofer center “speaker” flanked by left- and right-channel woofer/tweeter complements.

The 12-inch-tall RP-140D ($199) and 16-inch-tall RP-240D ($299) are two-way models with a single tweeter and one or two woofers, respectively. The elongated 28.5-inch-tall RP-640D ($499) sandwiches its tweeter in the middle of six drivers — two active woofers and four passive radiators — for extended bass (down to 55 Hz). All models boast Klipsch’s signature high sensitivity ratings — 91 dB for the RP-140D and 94 dB for the 240D and 640D.

All models are finished in matte black and equipped with dual four-way keyholes to accommodate horizontal or vertical wall mounting; a detachable glass base is also included for applications that require freestanding horizontal or vertical placement on a table or bookshelf.

The Designer On-Wall series is available through professional integrators. For more information, visit klipsch.com.
