KEF’s Wireless LSX Speaker Gets Apple AirPlay 2

KEF today announced a software update that brings Apple’s AirPlay 2 streaming platform to the $1,100 LSX wireless speaker system it introduced last fall.

Updating to AirPlay 2 is described as a seamless experience, with new firmware deployed wirelessly through the KEF Control app.

Once the update has been downloaded, setting up AirPlay 2 is a matter of following a “streamlined setup process” on the Apple Home app. EQ settings remain available through the KEF app.

With AirPlay 2, LSX owners can stream music or podcasts from an iPhone, iPad, Mac, HomePod, or Apple TV to speakers throughout the home.

The LSX system also supports Bluetooth streaming and subscription services Apple Music, Tidal, and Spotify Connect (including free users). The speaker supports resolutions up to 24 bits/192 kHz and is compatible with Roon music-management software in addition to supporting hard-wire connections via analog and optical digital inputs.
