Kaleidescape is adding Blu-ray to its world-class media servers.

Two new players, M-500 and M-300, will deploy Blu-ray in a multi-room context. The players integrate with servers and internet services and present a highly user-friendly interface to the consumer.

However, the product may become a source of further friction between the company and the entertainment industry. To work, it must store copies of Blu-ray content on a server, just as Kaleiscape's DVD server systems do. And to accomplish that, it has to work with the encryption on the disc. In the past this has attracted litigation and it may do so again.

The two players will sell for $3995 and $2495 and will ship this month.
