Behind every legend lies an impossible dream. Witness the spectacular journey of an incredible horse, Secretariat, and the moving story of his unlikely owner, a housewife who risked everything to make him a champion.
Day and date releases like this typically sport eye popping HD transfers. Unfortunately this one falls a bit short. While the image has a very film-like look to it with great cinematography, overall dimensionality falls a bit short and the image tends to have a softer look than most new releases. Colors are a bit oversaturated and like most films of the last decade, rely heavily on the gold/teal combination of colors. Fine object detail is close ups is exemplary though and easily the highlight of the presentation. The DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack fares better with impressive dynamics in the horserace sequences and a nice sense of ambiance. Dialogue is naturally toned and imaging overall is solid.
The 2-disc Blu-ray set includes a DVD copy of the film along with a look at the real people involved in this historic story. A deconstruction of the race sequences and a music video are also included along with some trailers and interviews.
This is a pretty amazing story. Lane turns in a solid performance and like Seabiscuit before it; the racing sequences really deliver the emotion of the events. Recommended!
