Hot Tub Time Machine—MGM (Blu-ray)

The outrageous laughs bubble up when four friends share a crazy night of drinking in a ski resort hot tub, only to wake up with serious hangovers in 1986 - back when girls wore leg warmers, guys watched "Red Dawn" and Michael Jackson was black! Now, nice-guy Adam, party animal Lou, married man Nick and mega-nerd Jacob must relive a wild night of sex, drugs and rock-n-roll and try to change their future - forever.

This would be an easy one to dismiss based on the title alone, but it really is hilarious. The storyline is pretty simple, a bunch of friends go to a resort to hang out and end up hitting the hot tub. But this time the hot tub brings them back to their teens and lets them relive their glory days, or change them. The comedy is pretty raunchy but stays in check enough to be a lot of fun.

The Blu-ray presentation is solid throughout with great definition and detail. Dimensionality is definitely one of the strong points and color and contrast are strong. The soundtrack gets some extra kudos for the trip back memory lane with the rock and roll hair bands. I found myself singing along more than once and hitting the volume button up from time to time just to rock out.

This unrated edition features a second disc with a DVD copy of the film as well. You also get some themed features that are funny, some production looks, interviews and deleted scenes.

This was a lot funner than I expected and definitely a good time. If you’re looking for a no brainer for movie night, add this one to the list.
