IETV Use on the Rise

Internet TV use continues to rise. According to iSuppli, 27.5 of consumers who bought new TVs last month connected them to the net, and the figure was up from 24.3 percent in December.

These net-savvy viewers either connected through the TV itself, in 42 percent of cases, or used another device such as a game console, set-top box, or (we'd guess) a Blu-ray player.

And current figures are only the tip of what is predicted to be a much larger iceberg. The research firm says that within three years, 60 percent of all flat-panel TVs shipped will be Internet-Enabled TVs (IETVs). And IETV sales are forecast to grow from last year's 14.7 million units to 87.6 million units in 2013.
