GoldenEar Expands Invisa Line with All-in-One Stereo Speaker
The speaker, which will sell for $449, is designed to deliver stereo sound from a single round speaker comprising a 6.5-inch dual-voice-coil driver encircled by an anti-resonance/diffraction control ring and two of the company’s signature HFVR folded-ribbon tweeters mounted in an acoustically optimized pod.
The SP 652 overcomes “significant colorations” that plague other single-point stereo speakers because the tweeters are mounted at an angle precisely calculated to maximize stereo coverage and radiation in a room, according to GoldenEar founder Sandy Gross. A high-frequency equalization switch is also included to help tailor the speaker’s sound to specific environments.
A single-piece driver/frame/flange construction made of marble-infused polymer is used to maintain a small footprint but also to “maximize performance.” The speaker comes with a round grille and a square grille is available as an option; both are paintable and secured with magnetic fasteners.
