Epson Announces ‘Ultra-Bright’ Portable Projector

Epson says its new portable 1080p LCD projector is up to three times brighter than competitive models, making it suitable for watching movies and sports or playing video games in a large room with the lights on.

The Home Cinema 1450 projector, slated for release a week from today (April 17) at $1,499, is a three-chip LCD design described as easy to set up and rated for color brightness of 4,200 lumens and white brightness of 4,200 lumens.

Capable of projecting 16:9 images as big as 260 inches, the projector has a 1.6x optical zoom, four color modes, and the ability to display images from two sources simultaneously.

Additional highlights include a built-in speaker powered by a 16-watt amplifier, two HDMI inputs—one of which supports Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL)—two USB ports (Type A and Type B), and a minijack stereo audio output.

The Home Cinema 1450 is covered by a two-year limited warranty (90 days on the lamp) and includes access to Epson’s PrivateLine priority technical support with free next-day exchange.
