Emotiva Ships New Amps and Speakers

Emotiva Audio is now shipping a number of products announced earlier this year, including the entry-level BasX series of amplifiers and preamp/tuners, new Airmotiv speaker models, and the XPA Gen 3 reference amplifier.

The BasX line includes four power amplifiers in various power configurations from two to eight channels at prices ranging from $199 to $599. The line also includes two stereo preamp/tuners, both with onboard DACs and one with an integrated amplifier.

The expanded Airmotiv speaker line includes seven models featuring black faceted baffles, critically-braced MDF cabinets, and grilles that attach magnetically; prices range from $199 to $699. All are shipping now except the subwoofers, which are slated for December.

The XPA Gen 3 modular amplifier, which accommodates from one to seven channels, is designed to be “endlessly tailored to individual systems.” The amplifier employs Emotiva’s XPR topology and is described as a significant step above its Gen 2 predecessor. All XPA Gen 3 amplifiers share the same chassis and power supply, meaning they can be upgraded and reconfigured at any time.

Emotiva also announced that owners of the popular XMC-1 7.2-channel preamp/processor can upgrade the unit to HDMI 2.0 (one input/one output) and HDCP 2.2 copy protection. The upgrade, which is included in all new XMC-1 units, is being offered free to consumers who purchased the XMC-1 preamp/processor before the new board was available. If you bought an XMC-1 used or at a discount, the upgrade costs $299.
