A sneak attack from the Cylons nearly wipes out humanity, leaving the only survivors to search for a new planet to call home. This 2003 re-invention of the classic TV series replaces camp with gravity, and the results are surprisingly effective. Colors are rich and vibrant, and the soundtrack makes excellent use of the surround channels for explosions and all other kinds of mayhem. The miniseries that's included here and nine of the 13 episodes from Season 1 have commentaries by producers and one of the directors. A bonus disc has more than two hours of deleted scenes and featurettes. [NR] English, Dolby Digital 5.1; letterboxed (1.78:1) and anamorphic widescreen; five dual-layer discs.
