Dolby Announces Dolby Vision 2; Hisense First TV Partner

According to Dolby, Dolby Vision 2 will roll out in two tiers: Dolby Vision 2 Max for high‑end sets and a standard Dolby Vision 2 tier intended for mainstream models. Dolby also says it has introduced bi‑directional tone mapping to better leverage today’s brighter, wider‑gamut displays while preserving creative intent.

Dolby says Dolby Vision 2 also “goes beyond HDR” with Authentic Motion, a creative‑driven motion‑control tool meant to manage judder on a shot‑by‑shot basis.
Industry adoption
Hisense is the first TV brand to announce it will ship models with Dolby Vision 2. Dolby states those TVs will use MediaTek’s Pentonic 800 with the MiraVision Pro PQ engine, the first SoC to integrate Dolby Vision 2. Timing and availability will be announced later.
French broadcaster CANAL+ has also committed to support Dolby Vision 2 across movies, series, and live sports for its subscribers, according to the announcement.
