The Devil Wears Prada—Blu-ray

This witty take on the fashion industry, with its dedicated, nearly obsessed careerists, should appeal to anyone who can get over the idea that it's just a chick flick. In fact, there are parallels here to any industry that demands total dedication. When I first saw the scenes of the big annual fashion gathering in Paris, I thought "CES!" OK, Vegas isn't Paris (not even at the Paris), and CES parties don't have as many gorgeous, skinny women. But you get the idea.

This is another superb Blu-ray release from Fox. It's just a hair less sharp than I was expecting given the advanced buzz, but you'll likely never notice, particularly on a smaller screen than the one I used. It's also a great movie to demonstrate the benefits of high definition, particularly to anyone who can't appreciate the finer nuances of King Kong or The Mummy.

There's really nothing special about the audio here. It's well done and all that is really expected from this type of film. Like all Fox titles I've checked, it's recorded in DTS' lossless HD Master Audio. While I listened to the core DTS track only, I would not expect a huge enhancement from the full lossless experience, given the relatively subdued content of the soundtrack.
