Cox to Sell TiVo Premiere DVR

Hate your cable company supplied DVR and its inferior interface? Cox subscribers will get a new and better option later this year when the company begins supporting TiVo Premiere DVRs.

The agreement will integrate the name-brand DVR with Cox On DEMAND, allowing access to the whole Cox program library. This is the first time a DVR sold at retail has been integrated with a cable company's VOD service, linear TV, and broadband content.

Features will include remote scheduling, multi-room viewing, interactive stuff, and TiVoToGo. TiVo Premiere DVRs sold at Best Buy, the TiVo site, and other retail outlets will come with free installation. The only bad news is that you'll have to wait till 2011 for Cox/TiVo support unless you're in one of the lucky test markets getting it later in 2010.
