And the (McIntosh) Movie Is…

Yesterday, we posted a photo of this movie scene and asked if you could identify the film. While the obvious focus is actress Cate Blanchett, S&V readers know the real star of the scene is the McIntosh gear, whose cool blue power meters scream for attention.

If you already haven’t figured it out, the movie is the just-released Ocean’s 8, the fourth installment in the franchise inspired by the 1960 classic Ocean’s Eleven, starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford — a.k.a., the Rat Pack. The franchise kicked off in 2001 with a remake starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Andy García, and Julia Roberts.

The actual components used in the scene are the MC152 power amp and C2500 preamplifier. The MT5 turntable also made an appearance in the movie but is not visible in this scene.

And that speaker sitting on a stand behind Blanchett? It’s the Sonus faber Olympica 1.
