Acurus Unveils 16-Channel Surround Processor and Companion Amp

Acurus has introduced a 16-channel “immersive” preamp/processor and companion eight-channel amplifier for high-performance home theater/media room applications.

The Muse processor ($5,500) provides DTS:X and Dolby Atmos surround-sound decoding and supports HDMI 2.0b with 4K/high dynamic range (HDR) video passthrough in a low-profile component that’s only 3.5 inches tall.

The Muse can be configured to support dozens of immersive speaker layouts, including a 15.1-channel Dolby Atmos setup, and is equipped with Acurus’ ASPEQT automated room-correction technology. Connectivity options include seven HDMI inputs, two HDMI outputs (one HDMI 2.0b and one HDMI 1.4), 12 balanced XLR outputs, RCA analog inputs, and both optical and coaxial digital inputs and outputs.

The processor supports a number of third-party control drivers and features a “beautiful web-control interface.”

The matching M8 Class D amplifier ($3,500) is rated to deliver 8 x 160 watts from an equally compact chassis and can be bridged to deliver 300 watts per channel.

Both components are covered by a five-year warranty.
