1More Announces Wireless, Noise-Canceling Earphones

Amid the hustle and bustle of CES 2020, China-based headphone specialist 1More announced that it’s getting ready to ship a new $200 set of wireless, active noise canceling (ANC) earphones at the end of the month.

The True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones (EHD9001TA) are the latest in a line of earphones tuned by Grammy winning sound engineer Luca Bignardi. The earphones support streaming via aptX-enabled Bluetooth 5 and feature a dual-driver design that pairs a 0.4-inch titanium-composite diaphragm with a balanced armature “tweeter” in addition to a DSP-based hybrid noise-cancelation system that uses feedforward and feedback mics to suppress noise over a broad range of frequencies.

A passthrough mode that lets in ambient noise allowing listeners to stay aware of their surroundings is provided along with two levels of active noise cancelation. Level 1 suppresses unwanted ambient noise up to 35 dB and is recommended for use on airplanes. Level 2 blocks noise up to 20 dB and is appropriate for commuting.

A multi-functional button is included on each earbud for answering/ending phone calls, engaging voice control with Siri or Google Assistant, adjusting ANC, and controlling music selection. Volume is controlled by tapping the right ear bud to increase the sound level and the left earbud to lower it.

The earphones are rated for 6 hours of playtime on a full charge — 5 hours with ANC engaged — and have a 15-minute fast-charge mode said to provide 2 hours of playtime. Up to 22 hours is possible when you factor in the three full-length charges available via the compact charging case. Wireless charging is possible with the use of a Qi-compatible charging pad (not provided).

A selection of different size silicone ear tips and silicone ear hooks are provided to ensure a good fit. The company said the earphones are awaiting THX Certification, a rigorous testing process intended to ensure high quality sound.
