Vudu Adds Dolby Vision Movies for Streaming

Dolby Labs, Vudu, and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE) have announced that four Ultra HD movies with Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR) imaging are now available for streaming on Vudu.com.

The titles include the The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Lucy, Oblivion, and Lone Survivor. Two of the movies—Lucy and Oblivion—also have Dolby Atmos soundtracks.

“Universal titles such as Lucy and Oblivion have never looked—or sounded—better,” said Dolby’s Curt Behlmer. “As more Dolby Vision enabled displays hit the market, streaming partners like Vudu make Dolby’s next-generation imaging technology easier to experience than ever before.”

Dolby Vision combines high dynamic range and wide color gamut to produce images that deliver brighter highlights, better contrast and more realistic color than standard TV.

Vudu needs to quit with the Dolby Vision push! HDR10 is the STANDARD and I am NOT buying a new TV just to get HDR support from Vudu!

Dolby Vision (12-bit) is superior to HDR10 (10-bit) for one thing, the tone mapping is better and HDR10 grading is a crapshoot right now with a variety of different HDR levels (1000-nit? 4000? What?).
More devices will support it soon.
For audio were you "No DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD? Dolby Digital is the standard!"
