Predators—20th Century Fox (Blu-ray)

Video: 5/5
Audio: 5/5
Extras: 3.5/5

Adrien Brody stars as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they've been brought together on an alien planet... as prey. With the notable exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers - mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members - human "predators" that are now being systematically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien "Predators".

By far the best looking Blu-ray I’ve reviewed this week. In fact, it leaves the others in the dust (well not How to Train Your Dragon, but it was more impressive for what it was). Shot with the digital Genesis cameras this flick looks unbelievable on Blu-ray with jaw dropping definition and detail. This is what the best movies on Blu-ray look like. Even the darker scenes have plenty of detail and little to no noise, which is typically a problem for the Genesis camera. The DTS-HD Master Audio track is also outstanding with LOTS of surround use, great atmospheric effects and loads and loads of deep gut wrenching bass. Yes, this will give your subwoofer a solid workout, along with your couch!

This 2-disc set includes a digital copy of the film and the Blu-ray includes a massive amount of behind the scenes features with interviews, on set footage and more. You also get a graphic novel prequel, a feature commentary and some deleted scenes. Unfortunately no cooking school episode though.

Predators was far more entertaining than the previous AVP films and in line with the sequel to the classic original. The Blu-ray looks and sounds pretty much perfect making it a disc you should at least see for the beauty of it.
