A few images from CES 2006

I took a bunch more pictures at CES than I could put in my blog. So here's the better ones.

I know you saw this one before, but here's a bigger version, as it's worth checking out again. The big one in the center is their new 103-inch. Above it are a row of 65-inchers. To the right of it is a 1080p 50-inch. Seems so small doesn't it?

This was on one side of Sony's colossal booth. It was an array of Blu-ray titles, behind glass.

A close up of a few titles.

Insuring demo material for years to come.

The front and back of Toshiba's $799 HD-DVD player.

A close up of the HD-DVD case. Buy this movie.

A wall of HD-DVDs.

This picture shows nothing, but it says what it is pretty clearly. It was Sharp's tech demo of an LCD panel with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. I didn't bring my light meter (not that even it could measure that high), but it did look very nice. An LCD with actual blacks, what a concept. They wouldn't tell me how it works. As soon as I find out, I'll let you know.

Without a doubt, the coolest thing at the show. It's a pool floaty, with built in propellers. You just turn the handle, press the button, and off you go. Ensuring plenty of drunk floating leading to low speed crashes, there are cupholders.

A glimpse at HPs new aesthetic design. It's a lot nicer looking in person.

Pioneer's Blu-ray player.

The back of Pioneer's Blu-Ray player. The RS-232 won't be on the final version.

An admittedly terrible picture of Samsung's Blu-ray player.
