Knight and Day—20th Century Fox (Blu-ray)

Tom Cruise is a covert agent sent on a mission he was never meant to complete, and Cameron Diaz is a woman caught between the agent and those he claims set him up. As their globetrotting adventure erupts into a maze of double-crosses, close escapes and false identities, they come to realize all they can count on is each other.

Knight and Day is a great looking Blu-ray disc with plenty of bright, crisp imagery. Fine object detail is tremendous and depth of image is probably some of the best I’ve seen this year. If I had to nitpick it would be the disc almost looks too good for the production. Special effects shots fall short at times due to the insanely clear HD image and show their limitations more. The DTS-HD Master Audio track is what you’d expect from a bigger budget summer action film. There is plenty of low bass to shake your room and surround activity is impressive. Dialogue is nicely balanced within the mix and imaging is solid across all channels.

Fox includes both a DVD copy of the film along with a digital copy for your portable device. You also get a bunch of themed features that delve into the production of the film, the fun they had on set and more. It is too bad they couldn’t put the hilarious Top Gear episode that Cruise and Diaz did in their promotional tour for this film!

Knight and Day was a pretty fun action film that didn’t take itself too seriously, even when it was a bit over the top. The Blu-ray presentation is fantastic making this an easy recommendation for fans of mindless popcorn action.
