Join Alice as she chases the White Rabbit and journeys into a topsy-turvy world that gets "curiouser and curiouser" as her fantastical adventures unfold. Meet the Mad Hatter, March Hare, Tweedledee & Tweedledum, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts and more unforgettable characters, all set against a backdrop of awe-inspiring splendor.

Disney continues to deliver amazing HD transfers for its catalog classics. Alice In Wonderland has received a frame by frame restoration that restores the vibrancy of the animation with wonderful color and clarity. You never so much as see a nick on the print used and aside from the dated animation style; you’d never believe this film was 60 years old! The 1.33:1 image has marvelous pop with great color and detail. Some of the shots do have an occasionally soft look to them in terms of focus and depth, but they were hardly distracting. The soundtrack is delivered in either stereo or a new 5.1 mix. I actually preferred the new 5.1 mix as it tamed a bit of the upper end harshness of the original mix and distributed the soundtrack to the speakers a bit more naturally.

Disney includes some nice interactive features with this new Blu-ray edition. You can activate different viewing modes that let you compare Disney’s vision to the original Carrol story or check out different art work from the archives. There is also fun for the kids with interactive coloring games and more. You also get a look at the different ways they brought this film to life as well as original artwork and lost footage.

I was surprised that Disney didn’t release this one last year to tie in with the release of Burton’s vision. The Blu-ray presentation is nearly flawless and continues Disney’s amazing restorations of their animated classics. A must own for any fan!!
