GE to Offer Home Theater Loans

Housing. Transportation. Home theater. Your local bank offers loans for those first two things, but not for the third, surely one of the most pressing needs of human life. What's up with that? Aren't big-screen television and surround sound at least as important as a house or a car? The General Electric Money Bank says yes!

The Theater Xtreme Entertainment Group will facilitate financing for home theater systems through Projectline, GE Money's home improvement program. Visit selected Theater Xtreme locations and you may be approved for a Projectline loan of up to $20,000.

According to the press release, the aim is to "increase the average ticket price while bolstering sales rates." In other words, instead of settling for second best, you can have your dream system right now (as long as you can make the payments). The arrangement is said to be the first of its kind to operate through a national retailer.

Financing home theaters might seem extravagant but it could enhance the overall entertainment experience for many. Exciting to see such innovative financial options emerging.
