HT Labs Measures: Denon DHT-700DV HTIB

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the SC-50S satellite (purple trace), DSW-27 subwoofer (blue trace), and SC-50C center channel (green trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

On-axis response of the SC-50S measures +3.21/-4.59 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The -3dB point is at 103 Hz, and the -6dB point is at 86 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 5.91 ohms at 257 Hz and a phase angle of -53.24 degrees at 139 Hz. Sensitivity averages 79 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.

On-axis response of the SC-50C measures +5.40/-3.96 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and (+/-15 degree) horizontal responses measures +5.49/-4.34 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The -3dB point is at 122 Hz, and the -6dB point is at 101 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 6.18 ohms at 291 Hz and a phase angle of -60.03 degrees at 150 Hz. Sensitivity averages 83 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.

Close-miked response of the DSW-27, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower -3dB point is at 52 Hz and the -6dB point is at 45 Hz. The upper -3dB point is at 97 Hz.

The left amplifier channel of the ADV-700 receiver, with two channels driving 8-ohm loads, reaches 0.1% distortion at 26.8 watts and 1% distortion at 31.5 watts. Into 4 ohms, the amplifier reaches 0.1% distortion at 26.7 watts and 1% distortion at 38.5 watts. THD+N from the amplifier was less than 0.034% at 1 kHz when driving 2.83 volts into an 8-ohm load. The signal-to-noise ratio with 2.83 volts driving an 8-ohm load from 10 Hz to 24 kHz with "A" weighting was 89.39 dBrA.—AJ
