Netflix isn't the only streaming service to suffer from a paucity of compelling titles. Given the number of streaming channels today and the lack talented directors, writers, etc. there is a limited number of compelling movies to be made that can be shared with all streaming services.
Then stack on top of that that Netflix is now making content for the entire world. A few years ago when they had little to nil in their original content budget for overseas markets, they had a lot more domestic original content. That no longer seems to be the case.
At one point, my Netflix queue had about 3 dozen or so titles in it. I'm doing good if I have 4. I have no interest watching subtitled movies because most foreign films and TV shows really suck. Also, most of Netflix new originals are very weak.
Case in point: "Bruised", Halle Berry's abortive take on "Rocky". It's poorly conceived, idiotic and unoriginal. Also, having one of the most beautiful women ever looking like she just went through a couple rough years in prison doesn't add any appeal.
Hell, I just watched their over-hyped movie, "The Power of the Dog". Wow, what a boring and odd film. After seeing it, I was mystified what I was supposed to take away from the experience or why it was the least bit interesting.
Also, their whole user interface and its controls really needs to be overhauled. It's stale. I don't want to browse through titles I've watched or anything that's 100% subtitled or overdubbed.
Perhaps it's that I've watched way more content due to COVID and that I no longer commute to work, but, like you, I'm finding Netflix to be a marginal experience anymore.
