Epson Announces Affordable Ultra Short Throw and Mini Laser Projectors

Epson has added a trio of projectors to its lifestyle-oriented EpiqVision 3LCD projector lineup. The new ultra short throw and streaming-friendly models join the company’s EpiqVision Ultra LS500, which became available in September.

The Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS300 Smart Streaming Laser Projector ($2,000 standalone, $3,000 bundled with a 100-inch ALR screen, or $4,000 bundled with a 120-inch ALR screen) is a native 1080p ultra short throw model that supports 4K/HDR input and has a rated 3,600 lumens (white and color brightness) output. It supports image sizes up to 120 inches and, according to Epson, provides full Rec.709 color gamut coverage.

A built-in 2.1 speaker system designed by Yamaha allows the LS300 to function as a soundbar as well as a projector, and there’s Bluetooth support for wireless music streaming. The projector’s Android TV interface lets you browse and stream from services including Hulu, HBO, Disney+, and YouTube, and there’s also Chromecast built-in for direct streaming from an Android or iOS device.

The EpiqVision Mini EF12 Streaming Laser Projector ($1,000) is a compact 1080p model capable of beaming images from 30 inches to 150 inches diagonal. Light output is specified at 1,000 lumens, and the projector also features a custom-designed Yamaha speaker system with Bluetooth support. The Mini EF12’s Android TV interface lets you stream directly from a multitude of apps, and it also has Chromecast built-in.

Last but not least, the EpiqVision Mini EF11 Laser Projector ($800) features similar specs to the EF12, but lacks that model’s built-in Yamaha speaker system and streaming capabilities. An HDMI 1.4 port allows for connection of your choice of streamer, while a USB type-A port can be used to power attached Roku or Fire TV sticks or Chromecast devices.

The LS300, Mini EF12, and Mini EF11 will be available in November through select retailers, the Epson online store, and Magnolia and CEDIA dealers. Check out the company’s website for more information.
