Onkyo today announced plans to bring a new flagship 11.2-channel AV receiver to market this spring.

Normally we don't use the News column for new product releases. But when there's a first, we jump on it, and we're jumping on three new receivers from Onkyo that deliver nine amplifier channels. They also support dual subwoofer outputs, making them 9.2-channel models.

Onkyo has announced the availability of a second mid-priced THX-certified AV receiver, a 9.2-channel follow-up to the 7.2-channel TX-NR686 introduced last month at $649.

The consistent trickle of new receivers in recent weeks continues, this time with a stereo model from Onkyo that offers extensive connectivity and supports high-resolution audio playback and a host of wireless networking features.

Onkyo USA has acquired exclusive distribution rights to market and distribute TEAC home entertainment products in the U.S.

It's safe to say home theater fans have never gotten more for their money than what Onkyo offers with the upgraded TX-SR502. Priced at only $300, the TX-SR502 features 6.1-channel surround performance, respectable 75 watts per channel output power, surround processing that includes Dolby ProLogic IIx and DTS-96/24, and a choice of two finishes - black or silver.
