Miller & Kreisel 850 Series HT Labs Measures

HT Labs Measures: M&K 850 Speaker System

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the LCR850 L/R (purple trace), V850 subwoofer (blue trace), LCR850 center channel (green trace), and LCR650 surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The LCR850's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/-15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +3.64/-1.26 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The -3dB point is at 96 Hz, and the -6dB point is at 80 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.49 ohms at 230 Hz and a phase angle of -50.43 degrees at 129 Hz. Sensitivity averages 88.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.

The LCR850 center's listening-window response measures +3.51/-0.47 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/-15-degree horizontal responses measures +3.35/-0.67 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The -3dB point is at 93 Hz, and the -6dB point is at 76 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.59 ohms at 230 Hz and a phase angle of -48.76 degrees at 123 Hz. Sensitivity averages 88.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.

The LCR650's listening-window response measures +1.98/-0.88 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The -3dB point is at 98 Hz, and the -6dB point is at 81 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 6.70 ohms at 216 Hz and a phase angle of -48.57 degrees at 126 Hz. Sensitivity averages 83 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.

The V850's close-miked response, normalized to the average level from 40 to 80 Hz, indicates that the lower -3dB point is at 33 Hz and the -6dB point is at 26 Hz. The upper -3dB point is at 164 Hz with the low-pass-filter switch set to bypass.—AJ
