When Italian speaker maker Book of Music refers to its Teti floorstander as a "no conventional enclosure system," it's not kidding. Standing nearly five feet tall, this 2-way design looks sort of like a twisted stack of books about to topple over.

According to the company's brochure, the Teti's appearance is no accident—the exact degree of rotation was determined by careful design and experimental refinement to maintain a proper phase relationship between the two drivers. Speaking of which, both drivers are sourced from ScanSpeak; the tweeter is a 1-inch ring radiator, and the woofer is a 6.5-inch paper cone, yielding an overall frequency response from 38Hz to 40kHz (±2dB) with a sensitivity of 89dB/W/m.

With a stock finish, the Teti carries a price tag of $9920 each; a special liquid-rubber paint job ups that to $10,481, and custom finishes are even more. I was hoping to hear this speaker at CES next month, but Book of Music is not listed among the exhibitors. Perhaps another company will bring some along as part of a compete system…
