Contrast & Resolution

Peak white level

  • Full screen: 14.5fL
  • 100 IRE window: 53.8fL
Black level: 0.014fL
Peak contrast ratio: 3843:1
Overscan
  • 480i/p: 2.5%

High-frequency bursts look fully resolved and clear via both HDMI and component.

Grayscale & Color Temperature

The grayscale started out fairly close at the low end, but as brightness increased, it wandered more and more away from blue.

The 2-point calibration controls got the grayscale quite close to correct across the brightness range.

Here we can see how, prior to calibration, blue decreases relative to red and green as brightness increases.

Calibration brought blue into line with red and green with only slight divergence at 60 and 90 IRE.

Before calibration, the color temperature sagged well below 6500K as brightness increased.

Post-cal, the color temp remained much closer to 6500K across the brightness range.

Color Accuracy

Green was somewhat oversaturated, as were red, yellow, and cyan to a lesser degree. Magenta was off the mark as well. However, none of these seemed to dramatically impact the colors of real-world content.
