It's a case for holding CDs, but its name tells you what else it can do. Just hook up your portable player to the miniplug, and the flat speakers, based on NXT technology, will do the rest. It's available in 12-disc single-speaker (shown) and 24-disc dual-speaker versions, measuring 7 x 7 x 2 and 15 x 7 x 2 inches, respectively. There are nine models, including the floor-standing MS-914 (shown), a two-way design that sports a 1-inch aluminum-dome tweeter and a 6 1/2-inch aluminum woofer. The woofer's Continuous Profile Cone has a smooth concave surface said to give the MS-914 fast transient response and wide dynamic range. Bandwidth is rated as 50 Hz to 22 kHz, sensitivity as 89 dB.
