NT: iPhone Home

These days, Apple likes to hold court at a different consumer electronics shebang - the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. "And where Apple goes," says any peripheral maker looking for some action, "iFollow!"

Of course, this year, the iPhone is the object of much affection. Consequently, NewerTechnology (newertech.com) introduced its line of iPhone accessories. Included are a headphone-jack adapter ($8), an iPhone/iPod car charger ($13), a mike-extender cable ($15), Bass Response Earbuds ($20), and a hands-free mike-and-earbud set ($20).

Shown here is the niftiest item: an iPhone speaker dock ($35), which, as you can see, also includes a hands-free mike. The dock has twin speakers and will control and charge your phone while it's nestled inside. Funny, but I can't get past the idea that the dock and mike look like a ship from the 1953 version of The War of the Worlds, with the deathray arm separated from the craft. Hmmm . . . iNeed a rest.
