That waveguide and those woofers look an awful lot like the Arendal. I'm not saying they're the same; I can see some obvious differences in driver numbers and spacing. But I did hear that the designer of the Perlisten and Arendal speakers also did subwoofer design for Monolith. Either way, I'm interested in finding out more about these.
Monoprice Expands Monolith Series…Again
The new Encore speakers follow the 16-inch THX Ultra-certified subwoofer that shipped in October.
The new lineup comprises the Encore C6 center-channel speaker ($250), Encore B6 two-way bookshelf model ($360/pair), and Encore T6 three-way tower speaker ($800/pair), all featuring internally-braced MDF cabinets, long-fiber-pulp cone woofers, and a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter that sits in a waveguide.
In the C6 center speaker, the tweeter is flanked by a 6.5-inch woofer on either side in an enclosure measuring 22 inches wide, 8 inches high, and 10-inches deep. The speaker is rated to play down to 56Hz with a rated sensitivity of 88dB.
The B6 mates is rated down to 49Hz and mates the tweeter with a 6.5-inch woofer in a cabinet measuring 15.7 x 8 x 10 inches. The T6 is rated down to 37dB and the tweeter is joined by a 6.5-inch midrange driver, and two 6.5-inch woofers in a cabinet 40 inches tall, 8 inches wide, and 13.8 inches deep. Rated sensitivity is 85dB for the B6 and 88 dB for the T6. Nominal impedance for all models is 4 ohms.
All Encore cabinets are vented, equipped with five-way binding posts, and finished in black woodgrain PVC. Monoprice offers a 30-day money back guarantee and backs all Encore models with a three-year warranty. For more information, visit monoprice.com.
