MartinLogan’s New Grotto Series Targets Big Bass in Compact Cubes


The company touts ported-like output and lower distortion in a compact, sealed package. App control, presets, and anti-vibration feet aim at easier setup and integration.
Key details: Grotto 12 is rated at 22–120Hz, ±3dB (anechoic via LFE). It uses a triple 12" system in a sealed 1" MDF cabinet with a center brace. Inputs include line-level L/R and LFE, XLR LFE, and speaker-level; an integrated wireless receiver with a transmitter is included. There's an RCA sub out for daisy-chaining. Max power draw is 1000W; standby is under 2W (wireless enabled) or 0.5W (wireless disabled). Dimensions are 17.8" × 17.9" × 17.9"; weight is 82.5 lb.

Grotto 15 is rated at 20–120Hz, ±3dB (anechoic via LFE). It uses a triple 15" system in a sealed 1" MDF cabinet with dual center braces. I/O and features mirror the 12. Dimensions are 20.5" × 21.8" × 21.8"; weight is 118 lb. Both models are available in Gloss Black and include integrated anti-vibration feet with carpet spikes.
