KEF’s Revamped R Series Speakers Rock CEDIA

British speaker-maker KEF is showing its new R series at CEDIA. A pair of the company’s R11 towers can be seen here in one of the KEF booth’s multiple lifestyle vignettes—this one showing a Manhattan lawyer’s cigar smoke-filled bachelor pad. He may not be a nice guy, but he has impeccable taste in speakers.

Along with the R11 ($2,500 each), the series includes two additional towers, the R7 ($1,900 each) and R5 ($1,400 each), along with the R3 standmounter ($2,000 pair) and R2c center ($1,200). There’s also a Dolby Atmos elevation module, the R8a ($1,400) pair). Black gloss, white gloss and walnut finish options are available for all speakers.

All R series speakers feature a 12th-generation Uni-Q driver. The company says its redesign of the low-frequency drivers on the R series allows for improved bass performance from a slimmer cabinet. The speakers also feature a Constrained Layer Damping internal bracing system originally developed for the company’s popular LS50, and a soft, lightweight microfiber grille with 1,801 precision laser-cut holes per driver.

KEF’s R series speakers are available now from retailers including Magnolia Design Center.
