Hisense Discounts U8K Mini-LED TVs Out of the Gate

Hisense today announced that the U8K series of mini-LED TVs it previewed earlier this year is now shipping. And for anyone who’s been waiting, there’s a surprise bonus: the Chinese company is sweetening the deal with substantial discounts right out of the gate.

The series is available through Amazon and Best Buy in 55-, 65-, and 75-inch screen sizes, which are offered at $800 (38% of the regular price of $1,300), $1,100 (35% off $1,700 list price), and $1,600 (30% off the $2,300 list price), respectively. And Hisense says an 85-inch model is “coming soon.”

U8K models are based on the Google TV smart platform and carry a peak brightness rating of up to 1,500 nits in addition to featuring Hisense’s Mini-LED Pro full-array local dimming technology, which expands the number of local dimming zones to more than 1,000 for an “enhanced HDR experience” and improved brightness and contrast over standard LED backlighting. Quantum dots are also employed to improve color performance.

The TVs support all of the major high dynamic range (HDR) formats, including Dolby Vision and HDR10+, plus a 144-Hz native refresh rate for smoother gaming, NextGEN TV (ATSC 3.0) signal reception for receiving over-the-air broadcasts, and the new, high-performance Wi-Fi 6E standard.

Audio performance has been upgraded with a 2.1.2-channel five-speaker sound system with 50 watts of peak onboard power and Dolby Atmos surround processing.

Other highlights include Filmmaker and IMAX Enhanced picture modes, an anti-glare screen, and Dolby Vision IQ, which automatically adjusts picture brightness based on changing lighting conditions. For more information visit hisense-usa.com.
