Hisense Bets on High-Brightness Laser TV: The L9Q Launches at CES 2025

Hisense says the L9Q’s TriChroma triple-laser light engine covers 110% of the BT.2020 color space. The company also claims the new projector can reach 5,000 lumens and maintain a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, which is purportedly bright enough for use in well-lit living rooms. The paired ALR screens also come in various sizes, and Hisense is touting new setup tools—like Auto Screen Alignment and Manual Keystone Correction—for swapping screen sizes more freely.
For the first time in a Hisense Laser TV, there’s a 6.2.2 surround sound system with a tilted sound bin the company says is inspired by Roman amphitheaters. This is meant to enhance Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X playback to deliver a more immersive effect. Connectivity includes HDMI 2.1, Wi-Fi 6E, and NEXTGEN TV (ATSC 3.0), which the manufacturer suggests will cover most modern streaming and broadcast needs.
Hisense is also pairing the L9Q with a 2.9 gain screen, claiming it can reach 1,500 nits of full-screen brightness—enough to render HDR highlights and match the bright punch of today’s TVs. If that holds up in real-world conditions, it could help Laser TVs finally feel like real contenders against large-panel displays. The new L9Q will be on display at CES 2025 (January 7-10) in Central Hall, Booth 16625. As always, we’ll be keeping a close eye to see if the performance lives up to the promises.
