CEDIA 2017 Sneak Peek

In advance of our official show coverage, we’ve culled through dozens of press announcements to bring you a sneak peek at a handful of products that will be introduced in San Diego at CEDIA 2017.

Séura, the company known for sleek mirror TVs, will introduce two lines of outdoor video displays — the Storm and Storm Ultra Bright — in 49-, 55-, 65-, and 86-inch screen sizes. Described as easy to install and 55 percent brighter than previous designs, the 4K/Ultra HD displays feature “finely crafted chrome accents,” built-in IP control, and patent-pending Adaptive Picture Technology that continuously optimizes multiple picture settings as outdoor lighting conditions change.

Norway’s Electrocompaniet will launch the new EC Living brand, featuring hi-res-capable wireless music systems, one of which is a finalist for CEDIA’s Best New Hardware Product award. Dubbed Alna, the system mates a 24-bit/192-kHz digital to analog converter (DAC) and 2 x 75-watt amplifier in a compact, rugged case that can be hidden in the wall or ceiling.

Klipsch will focus on ease of installation with the introduction of 50 custom speakers, including a bandpass subwoofer designed for installation in the ceiling or floor and a line of weather-resistant outdoor speakers featuring 105-degree dispersion. Introductions will also include a line of highly configurable amplifiers with DSP and four architectural speaker series covering a range of prices and featuring the brand’s signature horn-loaded tweeters and the new SecureFit installation system, which is said to create a stable acoustic platform that reduces baffle vibration.

The DaVinci Group (TDG) will take the wraps off a stealth three-piece soundbar system designed for mounting in the ceiling or wall. Comprising the SKYBAR LCR and two SKYBAR Satellites, the system is said to deliver “tremendous seven-channel home theater performance [from] three diminutive in-ceiling or in-wall boxes.” Estimated pricing is $1,000 per speaker.

Salamander Designs will showcase the new Milan series of future-forward AV cabinets featuring a unique three-dimensional, diamond pattern. The cabinets will be available in a variety of configurations, including a low-profile wall-mount model, with a choice of tops: solid black or white or glass in black or brown. Pricing starts at $999.
