Andover Previews Sub for its SpinBase System

Massachusetts-based Andover Audio has announced a companion subwoofer for its innovative SpinBase turntable system, winner of a Sound & Vision Top Pick in 2020.

Expected to ship in July with a $299 price tag, the SpinSub combines dual 6.5-inch woofers and a 100-watt Class D amplifier in a fabric-covered ported enclosure designed to fit in the base of the company’s 18-inch-wide SpinStand audio rack (pictured). The subwoofer is rated down to 32 Hz and equipped with auto signal sensing and Andover’s patent pending IsoGroove technology, which is said to reduce vibrations so the subwoofer can be placed near a turntable.

SpinSub is compatible with any audio system that has a line-level subwoofer output and equipped with a level control and low-pass filter that’s adjustable between 50 and 180 Hz. The sub will be offered in black or white and comes with a 6.5-foot 3.5mm minijack cable and RCA-to-minijack adapter.

Andover is offering an upgrade program for owners of the original SpinBase who want to add a SpinSub to their system (the first-generation turntable system lacks a subwoofer output). Owners who return their old SpinBase before September 12, 2021 will receive a new replacement for half price. Click here for details.

Led by former Cambridge SoundWorks executive Rob Mainiero, Andover Audio was formed in 2012 by a group of Boston-area audio veterans to provide design and manufacturing services to the audio industry but now makes products under its own name.
