Last week, <A HREF="http://www.vdcdisplaysystems.com">Video Display Corporation</A> (VDC) and <A HREF="http://www.christiedigital.com">Christie Digital Systems</A> jointly announced that the companies had reached an agreement in principle for VDC to acquire the Marquee line of CRT projectors from Christie (formerly Electrohome Projection Systems). The companies report that the agreement specifies that all manufacture, sales, service, inventory and other assets and operations of the CRT line of projectors will be transferred to VDC Display Systems of Cape Canaveral, FL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of VDC.

Indy Audio Labs, parent company of the high-performance audio brands, Aragon and Acurus, plans to launch a line of Web-enabled preamps and home theater processors later this year. Positioned as “the first separate preamps and pre-pros designed to meet the needs and expectations of today’s mobile generation, the line is based on Indy’s Enhanced Ethernet Control (E2C), which enables the components to talk to other devices on a home network.

Acurus has introduced a 16-channel “immersive” preamp/processor and companion eight-channel amplifier for high-performance home theater/media room applications.

If this were a logical world, money spent by movie studios in advertising new films would always translate into returns at the box office. But as any movie fan will tell you, the entertainment business is far from logical&mdash;in fact, there doesn't appear to be any direct relationship between spending on television ads for new releases and the box office numbers generated by those new releases. It's enough to drive an accountant crazy.
