Marantz Debuts AV 20 & AMP 20

Marantz has expanded its high‑end home‑theatre roster with the AV 20 AV preamplifier and AMP 20 12‑channel power amplifier, aimed at enthusiasts who want the flexibility of separates without stepping up to the company’s flagship AV 10/AMP 10 duo.

The AV 20 shares the AV 10’s core architecture—dual Analog Devices SHARC processors and 32‑bit DACs—but trims the output stage to 13.4 channels. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced and Auro‑3D decoding are on board, as is Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room correction. Users who prefer Dirac can add Dirac Live, Bass Control and, via a forthcoming firmware update, Active Room Treatment. Seven HDMI inputs support 8K/60 and 4K/120 passthrough, while an updated on‑screen interface simplifies setup. Streaming is handled by the HEOS platform, with Roon Ready certification and native support for major services from Spotify to Qobuz.

The matching AMP 20 supplies 200W into 8 ohms (two channels driven, 1 kHz, 0.05 % THD) with 12 total channels, and can be bridged to deliver up to six 400W channels. Balanced and single‑ended inputs are provided for every channel, and the copper‑plated, multi‑layer chassis mirrors the construction standards of its larger sibling.

Both components feature the brand’s modern “porthole” design, a back‑lit aluminum remote and manufacturing at Marantz’s Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan. Each unit lists at $6,000 and is available now through authorized dealers and Marantz.com.
